Jailed actor Kiefer Sutherland has been described as a "model prisoner" by a spokesman for Glendale City Jail.
The '24' star began a 48-day sentence last week for driving under the influence of alcohol. At the time of his arrest, Sutherland had been on probation for a 2004 offence.
Prison Officer John Balian revealed: "He's a model prisoner. He's not happy to be here, but you can tell from his demeanour that he's sorry and takes responsibility for what he's done."
Sutherland spent his first day in jail folding laundry and serving food to the other prisoners in his block.
Balian added: "He hasn't had any visitors as yet, but has bought several books with him to keep him entertained."
