One of the 1970s' virtually successful soft-rock acts, the couple of Jim Seals and Dash Crofts met spell playing with vocalist Dean Beard in 1958. That year, Beard was invited to unite the Champs (of "Tequila" renown), and Seals and Crofts tagged along, unexpended with the group until 1965. The deuce then bounced from the Mushrooms to the Dawnbreakers before deciding to strike out on their have as a duet in 1969. Seals played guitar, saxophone, and fiddle, while Crofts handled drums, mandolin, keyboards, and guitar. From 1972 to 1976, the duo had a string of quintet au albums for Warner Bros., with an extra greatest-hits digest certified dual pt. Their hit singles from this period include "Summer Breeze," "Diamond Girl," "We May Never Pass This Way (Once more)," and "Get Closer"; all except the tierce mentioned reached issue vI on the Billboard charts. The group became entangled in tilt in 1974 due to the title track of their Unborn Child album, an anti-abortion strain written from the fetus' point of view; the album was a critical failure, piece the single flopped and outraged miscarriage advocates, world Health Organization held demonstrations at many of the group's shows.

By 1976, Seals & Crofts' invoke began to wane; their albums failed to sell as well, and they scored their last Top 40 hit in 1978 with "You're the Love." Warner dropped them before long after their 1980 LP The Longest Road, only by this time, both Seals and Crofts were more than concerned in devoting themselves fully to the Baha'i religion they had born-again to back in 1969. The deuce have reunited from time to time at Baha'i gatherings, and for a short 1991-1992 go; Crofts has lived in several different countries, piece Seals touched to a Costa Rican java farm in 1980. During the '80s, Seals' brother Dan became a spectacular country isaac M. Singer later on going away the couple England Dan and John Ford Coley.
